Pre-order Considerations
1. Choose a host card. The xprs-px-x16 is supported by a variety of host cards. A selection for choosing of a host card is included on this ordering page: - xprs-host-dt on a PCI Express desktop system - or, xprs-host-ec on a notebook system with an ExpressCard slot Or, you can order separately host cards on their product pages.
2. Powering needs and Enclosures. PCI Express cards require 3.3V for powering, and optionally may use also +12V for powering. If a peripheral card uses 3.3V with low current consumption, the card may be powered directly through the cables. In general, PCI Express -x16 cards have high current consumption, beyond the amount of current provided through the cables. In such case, you can connect to XPRS-PX-X1 a standard ATX external power supply.
The XPRS-PX-X16 together with the PCI Express -x16 type card may be mounted in an enclosure. Small PCI Express -x1, or -x4, or -x8, or -x16 type card may be put in ISA-PCI-B1 enclosure. Longer and larger PCI Express -x1, or -x4, or -x8, or -x16 type card may be put in our ISA-PCI-B2 enclosure.
3. Software developers. The installation software includes a simple / basic API set for software developers. Our SDKBUS product has an extensive API set for software developers as well. If you have access to the source code for the specific peripheral card, and want to have it supported under Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, you may consider using our API set.
